I hate phones. Everything sucks.

Bought a Oneplus 5. Can’t transfer music files THAT I ALREADY OWN onto it. I’ve uploaded my 70GB of music to Google Music, but I want my files on my damn phone. I am not paying to stream music I ALREADY OWN- Fuck off Google.

I’ve already requested an RMA. I’m fucking done with Android. What a fucking garbage OS.

Apple pisses me off, but their shit at least works.

I bought one song on Google Music one time. When I found out I don’t have the physical file, I just went back to iTunes. Fuck that with a rusty sledgehammer.

I LOVED my Windows Phones. I ordered a Lumia 920 the day it was available from ATT. I only upgraded after it started getting too slow for daily use, and went to a Lumia 930 which I still have. I would go back to WP without hesitation if I could. I have a few apps that I am required to use for work that are only available on iOS/Android.

Wait what? Google Music doesn’t let you have native music files? I swear I was able to have the Fallout 4 soundtrack on my Nexus 5X through Google Music...though that was like 2 years ago though.

Either way, welcome to the dark side! My iPhone SE may only be 4 inches (compared to my Android phablets) but darn I don’t regret anything.

I tried to switched from an SE. I hate that phone. It’s too small. I hate iOS.

But it works.

Fuck all this shit. Hulk has nothing on my level of rage right now.

FTFY, you just got the wrong phone.

- Jelly screens because they installed it upside down

- 911 bugs

- Push notification ads to advertise it on the 3 and 3T

Android is still garbage.

Google can get fucked.

I OWN ALL MY MUSIC ALREADY AND EXPECT TO PLAY FROM THOSE FILES AND NOT STREAM THINGS I ALREADY OWN.

I already have the files. On my PC. Which the phone was connected to. And I copied the filed directly to the Music folder on the phone.

Did the correct Windows disconnect for the phone as a USB drive. Looked in my Music folder; no files.

We’re done here.

But you do. You just have to download it on a computer to get the actual file. Same as if you bought it from iTunes but only use an Android phone. Honestly it’s just hard to switch ecosystems nowadays—I never recommend it.

FTFY, you just got the wrong phone.

I think that’s one problem with Android, really. There are millions of Androids out there with probably at least half of them being garbage.

Then for that other half, you can ask others or refer to reviews for what you should buy, but they may have different tastes than you so you still may get the wrong phone anyway.

At least iPhones are cookie-cutter (both good and bad thing) so you know what you’re getting.

Hold on, you can’t drag/drop the files onto it, or you can’t download them?

OP5 was connected with the factory cable to my PC. Copied my music files from my PC onto the OP5. OP5 was connected to transfer files and showed up as a USB drive on my PC.

Disconnected my OP5 using the correct Windows procedure; opened the phone and checked my Music folder and nothing.

I’m done.

Yeah, so in my books it’s “screw iOS”, until they release something with keyboards lol.

I hate BlackBerry (especially their fanboys) but I’ll stick with what I have, since they are the only one building it.

So maybe they are there and the music player doesn’t recognize them? Does your version of Android have a file manager so you can look and see if they actually copied?

Kinja'd!!!1

Yes. I used the stock file manager on the phone to look for them. They did not transfer even though it showed they did on my PC.

I no longer care to deal with this bullshit. I expect my phone to work. Any failure and I am done. I have zero time or patience for putting up with garbage OS.

For whatever reason, I had to re-purchase some ring and text tones when I upgraded from an iPhone 4S to a 6S. Apple wouldn’t let me “restore” them on my new phone. There’s a place to restore your purchases of songs, movies, books, etc. but not old ringtones.

That, and the sometimes short battery life, have been (knock on wood) the most frustrating parts of Apple iOS.

Come back to the dark side! :)

Return already requested for the OP5. My SE I tried to switch from is just waiting on my SIM card and I’m back to using it.

Android is the single most infuriating OS I have ever encountered. Nothing ever works as expected. It is always a struggle to get a phone setup. This my third attempt at using an Android phone so it isn’t like I haven’t tried.

Not that it matters at this point but I can almost promise you the files were there and accessable. You just needed to install a more robust file manager, for whatever reason the stock one will not display many file types. Also depending on what format the music files were you might have need a different media player app too. I know this kind of stuff is not common knowledge if you are unfamiliar with Android, but what you were trying to do is easily done and the solutions to your issues are very easy to find.

I think I found a solution, I just need to buy the requisite apps.

I did find the files after looking around again, but I still despise they were as easily to get to as I expected them to be.

What file manager would you recommend?

I apologize for not getting back to you sooner, but personally I like ES file explorer. I use the pro version now, but even the free version should be able to handle anything you can throw at it.
